Frequently asked questions
How do I know what materials are recyclable?
Always check your packaging. BioPak works with the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) — the only source of truth for recyclability claims in Australia. BioPak uses APCO's PREP tool for all products. Sip and Pak links each SKU to verified material data and our Disposal QR tool for postcode-specific guidance.
How do I know what materials are compostable?
Compostable products must hold a compostability licence number from the Australian Bioplastics Association (ABA). Look for the compostability logo and the product's specific licence number — adhering to standards is not the same as being certified.
How do I know if packaging uses responsibly sourced materials?
Check for proof of claims and supply chain transparency. BioPak sources wood and paper from FSC certified forests, holds B Corp certification, and partners with ISO 14001 certified manufacturing facilities.
Does BioPak packaging contain PFAS?
BioPak has traces of PFAS in some legacy BioCane products but offers a growing range of no added PFAS plant fibre items. Sip and Pak can confirm PFAS status per SKU on request.
What is the future of home compostable materials?
PHA lining represents the next generation of home compostable cup technology — certified home compostable with no fossil-based plastic in the lining, applied to FSC certified paper cups.
